Decorative stone for drives, gardens & landscapes.

Plum slate, Staffordshire pink, Cotswold chippings, golden flint and decorative grey gravel. All stocked at our Walsall yard. Loose-tipped from one tonne, or in 850kg bulk bags landed onto driveways and gardens by HIAB crane.

Why our decorative range

The chippings landscapers and homeowners actually want

Five lines that cover the looks people in the Midlands actually ask for. Traditional, contemporary, country, formal. All stocked, all available the day you call. None of this "subject to confirmation from the quarry" stuff that delays a Saturday landscape job.

  • What's in stock? We keep a wide range of aggregates, decorative gravel, slate and chippings in stock at our Walsall yard. Same-day and next-day delivery available across Walsall, Wolverhampton, Birmingham and the wider West Midlands
  • Bulk bag delivery 850kg woven bulk bags delivered by crane and placed where access allows. A good option for finished driveways, smaller jobs and locations where a full aggregate wagon can't safely tip.
  • Honest advice on coverage Tell us the area and depth you're covering and we'll help calculate the right amount. It's usually cheaper to order slightly more than you need than arrange a second delivery halfway through the job.

FAQs

Decorative stone, answered

Which decorative stone is best for my driveway?

Depends on the look and the depth you can run. For a traditional drive: golden flint or Staffordshire pink, both angular enough to lock together. For modern or contemporary: decorative grey or plum slate. For traditional country: Cotswold chippings. Ring us with the area and we'll talk it through.

How deep should I lay decorative gravel?

For a path or border: 40–50mm is fine. For a drive that gets vehicle traffic: 50–75mm minimum, ideally on top of a compacted recycled Type 1 sub-base so the surface doesn't migrate. A 1-tonne bag of 14–20mm decorative gravel covers roughly 12–14m² at 50mm depth. Handy rule of thumb.

Can you deliver onto a block-paved driveway?

Yes, but for anything over a few tonnes we'd recommend a bulk bag delivery with the HIAB rather than tipping a wagon directly onto block paving. The point loads from a fully laden 8-wheeler can crack pavers if the sub-base is anything short of perfect. We'll advise on the call.

How quickly can you deliver decorative stone?

Same-day inside the Black Country if booked before 11am and the line is in stock (all five usually are). Next-day for the wider West Midlands. Larger landscape orders booked in advance get a confirmed delivery slot, usually a 2-hour window.

What's the minimum order?

One tonne loose tipped, or one 850kg bulk bag. We won't quote half-tonne deliveries because the haulage doesn't work, but a single bulk bag landed on a residential driveway is a standard product for us.

What if I don't know how much I need?

Tell us the area and the depth, and we'll calculate it. Get it slightly wrong and the second drop is cheap. Over-order by miles and you're stuck with surplus. We'd rather slow the booking by 5 minutes than send you the wrong tonnage.

Can I collect from the yard?

Yes. Trade collection welcome, bring a vehicle you're confident loading. We can load anything from a Transit tipper to a 32-tonne artic. Cash, card or account.
