Tipper hire across the West Midlands.

20-tonne 8-wheel tippers on day rate or project rate. Muck-shifting, aggregate haulage and internal site moves on our civils-spec fleet from the Walsall yard.

Tipper vs grab

A tipper is fast but dumb. Pick the right tool

A grab is self-loading. The lorry turns up, the driver swings the arm over, loads itself. A tipper is faster but sits and waits while a digger or telehandler on your site loads it. Choose the wrong one and you either pay a grab to do what a tipper would do in half the time, or you pay a tipper standing idle with nothing to feed it.

  • Tipper when there's plant on site Excavator or loader feeding at speed. Volume off in a day, anywhere from 100 to 500 tonnes. Aggregate cut-and-fill between two points on site.
  • Tipper when material is awkward for a grab Fine, dusty or otherwise difficult: sands, dry recycled fines, demolition fines. The grab bucket doesn't grip. The tipper just receives and goes.
  • Grab for everything else Single-load muck-away, no machine on site, awkward access. A 20-tonne tipper with no loader is an expensive lorry sitting still.

What customers run them on

Civils, housing, demolition, aggregate shuttle

Most of the fleet is on rolling project work. We hold buffer capacity at the yard for short-notice cover when a sub's let someone down.

The fleet

Two trucks. Both under 5 years old

All Euro VI. Run from the Walsall yard with a workshop on site, so we don't carry the downtime that subcontract operators do.

32t gross · 20t payload

20-tonne 8-wheel tipper

Mercedes Arocs and Scania P-cab. Workhorse for civils, housing groundworks, aggregate shuttle. 80–160 tonnes per day on local runs.

  • Payload ~20 tonnes
  • Body ~12m³
  • Output 6–10 loads/day local
  • Compliance Euro VI
26t gross · 15t payload

26-tonne 6-wheel tipper

Tighter access, suspect surfaces, suburban sites where the 8-wheeler is the wrong call. Same compliance pack, smaller envelope.

  • Payload ~15 tonnes
  • Body ~9m³
  • Output 5–8 loads/day local
  • Access Down to 2.5m wide

How we price it

Day rate. Project rate. Per-load

Three pricing models, three different jobs. We'll tell you which fits when you call. Usually obvious from the scope.

01

Day rate · £450–£600 inc. VAT

One tipper, one driver, 8–10 hours, within a defined radius of Walsall. Best when you're loading on site, tipping locally, turning rapid, because more loads per day means lower cost per tonne.

02

Project rate

Programme work, from a fortnight's groundworks through to a six-month civils job. Flat rate against agreed scope, priority allocation, your dispatcher knows the driver's name. QSes prefer this, because there's no day-to-day volatility.

03

Per-load

One-off jobs: single tipper, 20 tonnes of muck off, Type 1 back. Simpler for the customer. Makes sense for under-a-day work.

What moves the day rate: distance from Walsall, project length (multi-day shaves the daily), compliance requirements, whether tip fees are bundled or passed through at cost with the WTN.

FAQs

Questions we get asked every week

What's the difference between tipper hire and grab hire?

A grab lorry loads itself with a hydraulic grab arm. A tipper has to be loaded by a digger, loader or telehandler on your site. Tippers move volume faster when you have plant on site, but they're useless if there's nothing to load them. Grabs are slower per load but solve access problems a tipper can't.

How much does a tipper carry?

Our 8-wheel tippers carry up to 20 tonnes, about 25% more than an 8-wheel grab because there's no grab equipment eating into the gross weight. Around 12m³ of soil or hardcore. A 6-wheel tipper carries around 15 tonnes.

How many loads will one tipper do in a day?

Local muck-shift on Black Country sites: 6–10 loads per day per truck. Longer-haul jobs (Coventry, Stafford): 4–6. The constraint is usually the tip queue at peak times, not the lorry.

Can I hire a tipper without a driver?

No. We run driver-and-vehicle hire only. Insurance and licensing make self-drive tipper hire impractical for most customers, and uneconomic for us.

Do tipper rates include the tip fee?

Day rates don't include tip gate fees by default. They're passed through at cost with the WTN. We can quote an all-in rate that bundles tipping if you'd rather have a single number. Project rates usually include tipping at an agreed assumed material class.

Can the same tipper bring aggregate back?

Yes, and this is one of the main reasons project-rate tipper hire works out cheaper than per-load. The lorry tips your muck, loads from our yard or a quarry, drops on the way back. Zero empty running.

Can you cover short-notice?

If a tipper has dropped off a programme and you need cover the next day, ring us. We hold buffer capacity at the Walsall yard for exactly this. Same-day mobilisation is harder but not impossible.
